“Good communication
does’ t mean that you have to speak in perfectly formed sentences and
paragraphs. It isn’t about slickness. Simple and clear go a long way.”….
It is a wake-up call for
all those who seek recruitments with big and famous companies. Pull up your
socks as there is no time to stand and stare. Students be alert and remember if
a business school or any professional Institute has introduced subjects like
Professional Communication or Business Communication for a personality
enhancement, then these subjects indubitably are a vehicle for upward mobility.
A student of today
takes English Language very casually but do you all really think that this
casual attitude will provide you with good placement? A majority of students
come across various problems .Some speak too fast or may be too slow; others
use \um\ and \eh\ in presentations and a couple of them also make use of plurals‘s’
at the end of their words. In most of the cases people to whom they talk to
look puzzled or they ask them to repeat several times. Their usage of words
like \like\ \you know\\basically\in their sentences are quite frequent.
Nonetheless a problem is felt when it is the time for campus placements. Recruiters,
the so called saviors for placement seekers, are left with no choice but
simply to cut down the placement list. They want excellent colloquial skills in
students but this excellence is nowhere to be seen.
So let me ask one
thing…..Do you need to change the way you speak? And if yes, then why do we as
students should underrate the existence of such subjects. What distinguishes
human beings from all other species is their ability to speak which includes
Linguistics. Take the advantage of every opportunity to practice your
communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the
gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other
people.

but that’s not what ships were meant for.
